Qingdao

Chinese Name : 青岛市 (qīng dǎo shì)
Location: Qingdao, located in the southeast part of Shandong Province. With a population of around 3.5 milion (8 milion regional) it is one of the largest cities in Shandong Province. It is located between Beijing and Shanghai, is the relatively undiscovered (by foreigners) ‘third city’. Qingdao, which means The Blue/Green Island, is a beautiful sea sidecity, with architecture a blend of colonial Europe and modern, with clear air and an enchanting seaview over Jiaozhou Bay (胶州湾; Jiāo zhōu wān). Qingdao has the largest bathing beach in Asia and the famous Tsingtao Beer originates from here.

The HIFF will take part in Laoshan District (崂山区), one of three suburban districts (the other two are Chengyang District (城阳区) and Huangdao District (黄岛区). Laoshan District lies southeast of downtown and is home to Laoshan Mountain and some of the best beaches in the city.It has an area of 858 square kilometres and had approximately 379,50 inhabitants as of 2010. It is home to Mount Lao, which gave the district its name. Laoshan District is home to several Hi-tech industries, tourism and a large service-based industry. Tourism is a prominent industry in Laoshan,and a wide variety of recreational, ecological, seaside sight-seing tourism facilities are available, including the Polar Ocean World and Shilaoren Sightseeing Garden. The district is home to several internationaly well-known festivals, including the Qingdao International Beer Festival, Laoshan Tea Festival and Laoshan Tourism Culture Festival. This will be where the HIFF will be held.
